Summer is crazy. I’m exhausted. Who’s with me? Making time to even go to get yourself a nice cup of coffee is hard and even if you can go you stumble upon long lines of zombies waiting for their cup of joe due to staffing issue.
It’s all never ending but then add into the midst the troubles of having celiac. I find myself always googling what exactly is in these fancy drinks. Does the milk have oats? Are the oats they use gluten free? Are those making the coffee also touching the delicious goodies filled with gluten? And most importantly, are the syrups used at the coffee locations celiac friendly?
Make it yourself! It’s not worth the risk or effort and the outcome is always delicious.
Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Syrup
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of water
1/3 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
It’s easy peasy. Put all these ingredients in small pot over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and heats a bit. Take it off the heat and let it stand. Put your syrup in a Tupperware, mason jar, squeeze bottle etc. Store in the fridge.
I enjoy mine in a nice homemade cold brew with almond milk, strong coffee, and 3 Tb of syrup over ice. Enjoy!!
